Brief

How can we, in a long-term way, attract more female students to IT-Gymnasiet, a high school with a focus on technical education?

Solution

IT-Gymnasiet had noticed a shortage in applicants from female students. It seemed that girls weren’t as interested in learning programming as boys. But when working on the brief, we managed to identify the real problem; boys and girls of today don’t actually encounter coding until late ages. This lead us to realise that in order to ensure that the next generation of adults become producers, rather than just consumers of digital content; we needed to aim higher and act ahead.

Framtidens Språk (Language of the future) is a long-term initiative with the main objective to persuade our Minister of Education Jan Björklund to introduce programming in the elementary school curriculum.

With the help of Sweden’s most influential voices in programming, along with teachers and leading IT corporations we managed to initiate a still on-going debate in Swedish media and; make IT-Gymnasiet the initiator of future education.
